How to use the Edible Dosage Calculator
This free edible dosage calculator is built for anyone making CBD or THC-infused food at home - whether you're using CBD flower, hash, wax or a ready-made oil. It removes the guesswork in two steps and gives you clear mg figures for every batch and every portion.
Step 1: Calculate your infusion strength
- Enter the weight of your cannabis product in grams.
- Input the CBD and THC percentages shown on your product's lab report or packaging.
- Select your solvent - oil, butter or alcohol - and enter how much you're using.
- Hit Calculate. You'll get the total CBD and THC in your infusion, and the concentration per ml of solvent.
A 12.3% decarboxylation loss is applied automatically. When you heat cannabis, CBDA converts to active CBD - this accounts for that conversion.

What CBD dosage should I aim for?
CBD dosage varies by individual. A common starting point is 5–10mg of CBD per serving. More experienced users often work in the 15–25mg range. There's no universally correct amount - start low, see how you feel, and adjust your next batch accordingly. THC content in UK-compliant CBD products must remain below 1mg per preparation, so for most CBD flower recipes the THC figure will be very small.
Why does decarboxylation matter?
Raw cannabis contains CBDA, not CBD. Heat converts CBDA into active CBD - this is decarboxylation. Without it, the cannabinoids in your edible won't have full effect. The calculator applies a standard 12.3% conversion loss to account for this, so your results reflect the active CBD that will actually end up in your food.
