Why I Ordered the Rainbow Sherbet

Like a lot of CBD Heads out there I was very excited to see Originals CBD's latest drop of US Sungrown Flower. So I ordered a Half of the Lemon Octane 13 and a Half of the Rainbow Sherbet - because as I've learnt over the years, when Originals drop new Strains you need to grab as much as you can when you can, as it doesn't stay in stock for long!

As always my order arrived super quick, with a nice little sample of the Bubba Kush 59 as well as a handy little Originals CBD Grinder chucked in too. Originals CBD certainly know how to make their customers feel both appreciated and valued.

I decided to try the Rainbow Sherbet first due to not only its mouth-watering description on the Originals CBD website, but also due to the hype this Strain has caused over in the US. Is the hype warranted and the description accurate? Let's check it out!Originals CBD 14g resealable Mylar bag - hermetically sealed CBD flower packaging

What Is Rainbow Sherbet? Strain Background and Genetics

Just a bit of background about this Strain before we start. Now this Strain is not to be confused with its THC/Type 1 counterpart, as it is a totally unique Type 3 Strain. The offspring of two well-known and loved CBD Strains: Blood Orange Diesel and Fruity Pebbles. Both of which are beautiful, well regarded Strains in their own right.

I believe that this Strain was created by Thomas at High Alpine Genetics, so as you can see it certainly has a solid background and pedigree. This particular batch was grown by a well-known and well-respected Cultivator out in the Rogue Valley, Oregon - THE Mecca for outdoor, sun-grown CBD Flower. You would be extremely hard pushed to find better outdoor, sungrown CBD Flower anywhere else in the world. To me personally the Rogue Valley is literally the Khyber Pass of the CBD World!

Rainbow Sherbet is a Sativa-leaning Hybrid with a CBD content of 14% and a total Cannabinoid content of 18%, making it well suited to daytime usage.

Aroma - It Hits You Before You Even Open the Jar

So, according to Originals CBD "this Strain makes sense as soon as you open the Jar!" Well it's rare that I disagree with an Originals description but I beg to differ. This Strain makes perfect sense the moment you open the package!

It's a good job that Originals CBD packaging is bang-on, hermetically double-sealed and that stealth and security is a major priority of theirs - because this Rainbow Sherbet absolutely reeks! If you can imagine walking into a sweet shop only to find dank CBD Flower being sold amongst the Sherbet Dippers, then hopefully I'm painting a fairly accurate picture of just what opening a package of this Flower is like!

Ever so slightly cakey, parma-violety, sugary, sherbet, tropical berry aromas with that classic Oregon fuel and gas back-note/kick. You just want to shake up and inhale from the Mylar again and again and again - it is THAT good.

Appearance - Outdoor Flower That Could Pass for Indoor

Visually this is some of the most beautiful outdoor Flower that I have ever seen and could be quite easily mistaken for Indoor. An absolute kaleidoscope of various shades of blue, green, orange, pink and purple hues. She's so gorgeous that you'll want to take her out and wine and dine her!

The Half Oz deal was the perfect mixture of smalls, mediums and large buds and it weighed in at a healthy 14.38 grams. Straight away when you take a closer look at this Flower and begin to work it, you can see the conscientiousness, dedication, effort and love that has been invested into it. It has been expertly cultivated, manicured, dried and cured to perfection.

Some Cultivators are known to shorten and indeed not bother with a curing period, selling their Flower as soon as it is dried. The consumer then has to take on this responsibility themselves, which is not only unethical but also completely unacceptable. This Flower though is just perfect - the buds break up easily releasing yet more enticing, juicy and pungent aromas. Subsequently it grinds up beautifully and is a joy to work with.Rainbow Sherbet CBD hemp flower buds spread out showing purple and green hues

Taste - As Good as the Aroma, Maybe Better

I chose to consume this Flower via my favoured RAW Black papers and then secondly via my trusty Rora Glass Bong. Upon consumption the first thing to become clear is that this is happily one of those Strains whose taste is as good if not better than its beautiful aroma.

If you can remember those Sherbet Dip sweets from your childhood (showing my age there!) - then this is like inhaling the gassy equivalent, but with a gorgeous dank berry and ever so slightly cakey back-note to it. You can really taste the Blood Orange Diesel parentage with this one, and it reminds me of that classic Platinum Diesel Strain which is another Blood Orange Diesel cross.Rainbow Sherbet CBD flower ground and laid out on RAW Black rolling papers ready to roll

Effects - Heady, Uplifting and Built for Daytime

The effects I found were extremely heady and stimulating - squarely in classic Sativa territory. I noticed a definite boost in my mood quickly after consuming it. Energising and certainly a Strain that will boost both your creativity and productivity.

A Note on Sativa Sensitivity

One thing I will mention here - as I have found with both straight Sativas and Sativa-leaning Hybrids - is that the heady effects can/may induce a slightly anxious or very slight state of panic when first consumed. Whether this is unique to myself or something that other CBD Heads resonate with I'm not sure, but it is something I have often experienced and must mention just so that others are aware.

I have discussed this with another CBD Head I know who comes from a Scientific background, and he is convinced that certain CBD Sativas and Sativa-leaning Hybrids contain Esters, Terpenes and VSCs that are also found in their Type 1 counterparts. He hypothesises that these are momentarily tricking the brain and CBD receptors into believing that THC has just been consumed, consequently causing the slightly anxious or very slight state of panic that I sometimes feel. Whether this is true, BS or bro-science I'm not sure - but it certainly is food for thought and I would be genuinely interested to hear from any other CBD Heads who experience something similar or have any thoughts on this.

He also states that I consume too much Indica Flower and that I need to consume more Sativas - which I know to be true and need to work on!Rainbow Sherbet CBD flower in grinder with Originals CBD stickers in background

Verdict - Buy It. And Buy More Than You Think You Need.

To summarise I would most certainly recommend this Rainbow Sherbet to anyone out there, and my only gripe with it is that I didn't purchase enough of it in order to squirrel some away in my Stash! This batch WILL sell out quick and I sincerely hope that Originals CBD manage to source some more.

I hope that you have enjoyed this review and found it interesting. If there are any CBD products you would like me to review, please let us know in the comments and we will do our best to make that happen.

Stay blessed, stay lucky. Until next time. Peace.
