Why I'm Back - and Why You Should Already Have the Lemon Octane 13
Hey Guys! Well we're back for some more reviewing so get yourself comfortable, grab that favourite drink of yours, get some snacks handy and let's see what we've got for you all today.
Now, I know all of you have been just as stoked as I am about the three new US Outdoor Strains that the CBD legends at Originals CBD have recently dropped. I know this due to the time it took for the first drop to completely sell out! I only managed to grab some of the Rainbow Sherbet and Lemon Octane 13 that first time. When I went back for some of the Lavender Cupcakes, all you CBD Heads out there had mopped it all up before I managed to get a look in!
Now that's proof if proof were needed that I don't receive any special treatment from the Guys at Originals CBD - stock levels apply to me just the same as they apply to you all too. Sure, I use my discount points whenever I make an order, as you all should do too. Which I have to mention right now is yet another reason why Originals CBD are my go-to company. The points system in my opinion is excellent, unrivalled and a really generous gesture that shows the kind of ethics at the very heart of this company. In my opinion not only are we as consumers extremely lucky to have access to CBD products of this premier-tier quality - but to receive the discounts that the points system allows is not only a very nice touch, it is also very welcome in these austere times that we currently find ourselves in.
But let's all forget what's going on around us, our strife, troubles and worries - and let's just get on with sampling some of the good stuff! Fortunately as you'll all have noticed, the legends at Originals CBD managed to bag some more of that US Outdoor goodness. And I was not so slow off the mark this time!
I grabbed yet more of that excellent Lemon Octane 13, which I will be reviewing in due course - but please Guys, don't be waiting for that review before you order. I'm going to say it now so my people are all well aware. I'm going to have to write this in capitals and literally shout at you all through my laptop just to make my point:
IF YOU HAVEN'T TRIED THE LEMON OCTANE 13 YET - BUY SOME ASAP. BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THAT FLOWER IS SOMETHING SPECIAL. IN SO, SO, SO MANY WAYS!
There, I said it. Because even though I could have kept that one on the down low and greedily bought up as much as I could - that isn't my style. I want YOU, my fellow consumer, my CBD Heads, to get the sheer pleasure of sampling some of that delicious Oregon Outdoor goodness. Okay - enough of me raving about the Lemon Octane 13! I also managed to grab some of the Lavender Cupcakes when I ordered, so let's see how that went down.
What Is Lavender Cupcakes? Strain Background and Genetics
The Lavender Cupcakes is the result of the pairing of the award-winning Lavender Kush with the Chocolate Chip Cookie OG, bred by Floyd at Hoku Seed Co - originally K2 Kush E1 crossed to RKD, phenohunted by Beleafer. The strain is the result of a genuinely collaborative effort between some of the most respected names in CBD genetics - High Alpine Genetics, Hemp Farmer Clay, Humboldt Seeds, Open Source Genetics and Zera Farms all played a part in bringing it to life. It even picked up Best Indica recognition along the way. Again this has been grown by a now legendary CBD Flower cultivator in that Mecca of CBD Flower - the Rogue Valley, Oregon.
Appearance - Big, Chunky and Seriously Impressive
The half oz pack that I ordered consisted of a variety of sizes of beautiful Flower - some lovely large, medium and small buds. It weighed in at a nice 14.38 grams, so a quarter got squirreled away in the Stash and a quarter was earmarked for immediate consumption and to feature in this review for you folks.
As you can see from the photos this is some really nice looking Flower - and I just wish that you could smell this Strain via my review. They are lovely, big and chunky pale-green buds. This reminds me of some of the old White Type 1 Strains - White Rhino, White Russian and White Widow in particular. Under certain lighting this Flower actually appears white, with a good healthy amount of trichomes too.
This is truly the highest quality of Outdoor Flower that puts some Indoor Flower to total shame. You can tell this Flower has been cultivated, nurtured, cropped, manicured, dried and cured to absolute perfection by people with nothing but love and passion for their craft and their Flower.
Aroma - Floral, Spicy and Seriously Dank
This really is some special smelling Outdoor US Flower. Floral, ever so slightly fruity and nicely spicy upfront, with an amazing earthy, hashy, kushy and skunky background. I'm also getting a significant amount of dankness to this Strain and literally cannot wait to consume it.
Broken up and ready for working it smells even more complex - there's some definite cakey, dessert and sweet pudding notes accompanying the gorgeous aroma previously described. It grinds beautifully as all of this 2025 US Outdoor range does and certainly fluffs up very nicely, giving you a lot of bang for your buck.
Taste - Old School, Throaty and Absolutely Smacking
This is another one of those Strains that's happily tasting exactly like she's smelling. Creamy, milky floralness off the bat with a prominent, pungent, earthy, hashy, kushy and skunky hit that gets you hard but oh so nicely - right in just the right spot.
I'm getting a pleasant level of dankness to the point of mild harshness with this Strain. Do you remember some of those old school Type 1 Strains that when consumed used to hit you squarely in the back of the throat? Triggering those at times irritating, often embarrassing but always pleasurable coughing fits? The more you consumed the stronger the effects kicked in and the more intense the effects became? Well this Lavender Cupcakes is the CBD equivalent of exactly what I've just described. Quite unusual and rare in the CBD World - but consuming this reminded me of that legendary old school Chronic Strain. That Strain slapped you in the face big-time and like I say, this here is the CBD equivalent.
Effects - Melt Into Your Chair Indican Perfection
A lovely sedation in both body and mind follows immediately after consumption. The kind of sedation that sees you melting into your chair - however with zero anxiety, panic or feeling of the walls closing in on you! You'll want to put on your favourite TV show or film, grab some snacks and enjoy the ride with this one. Wonderful Indican effects - perfect to unwind or decompress of an evening, or for those lazy days when you have zero commitments and just want to chill right out and enjoy a bit of well-earned me time.
Verdict - A Modern Classic That Belongs in the Stash
To finish I have to say that not for the first time sampling this year's US Outdoor range, I felt ever so slightly faded after consuming this Lavender Cupcakes. Again I hasten to add - in no way unpleasant. In fact quite the contrary, as I felt those classic textbook Indican effects with zero nastiness. This actually put a smile right on my face as it is another Strain that makes me love CBD Flower even more!
I will end this by saying that this Lavender Cupcakes deserves a place alongside the classics in my humble opinion. This Strain is up there with the Bubba Kushes, the Critical Berries and the Royal OGs without a shadow of a doubt.
I just hope that when finances allow another order, you Guys and Girls have left some of this absolute fire for yours truly! As this is another Strain from this year's harvest that a decent bit of simply must go into the Stash. I find myself wondering - if this year's US Outdoor harvest is this good now, what's it going to taste and feel like after sitting in a jar for six months? I firmly believe these Strains will mature like fine wine or whiskey as they age. That is, if you can resist the temptation of not consuming them first!
